Kurent House

Meet the kurent, the most popular and widespread traditional ethnographic carnival character, typical of the Ptuj and Drava fields, Haloze, and Slovenske gorice regions. Using the latest interactive technologies, you can learn about the cultural heritage of the area and the Kurent/Korant rituals, which have been preserved from ancient times to the present day. Throughout the year, you can see, hear, and feel the special energy of the kurenti/koranti and their message at the Kurent House.

  • Closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Summer opening hours (April to the end of September):

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday–Sunday, and public holidays: 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.,

Discover stories dating back more than 700 years, enjoy the view stretching across Slovenia’s oldest town, and see one of the most interesting tower clock mechanisms in the world.

Castle tunnels (Escape from the castle tunnels)
An adventure for families and children is here! Through the escape game, you will uncover the veil of mystery that has covered the tunnels. In the glow of the lights, you will solve puzzles, explore the tunnels, and have fun.

Visit to Little Red Riding Hood (fairy tale)

A fairy tale forest where you can meet Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf, Sleeping Beauty, Kosobrin, Bedanec, Kekec, Martin Krpan, Muca Copatarica, the wolf and the seven little goats, and Janko and Metka.

Ptuj is known as the oldest Slovenian town, with a rich heritage and the title of Treasure Trove of Millennia. Through its monuments, buildings, and museum collections, it tells interesting stories that span from prehistory, through the ancient period of Poetoviona’s greatest prosperity and the Middle Ages, when Pettau was considered one of the most important trading centers in Central Europe, to stories about a small provincial town and the experiences of modern Ptuj.
